How to clean an iron:
Does your iron suffer from overenthusiastic crafting and end up a little worse for wear?! Fear not... here is a tip for getting it shiny and new again!!
- Salt - the idea is to iron over salt on an old cloth, which then removes any 'gunk'. This didn't really work and just clogged up the steam holes!
- Nail Polish Remover - use cotton wool or q-tips dipped in nail polish remover and rub over the surface on the iron. This didn't seem to work either, although it could have been due to lack of patience!
- Magic Eraser Sponge - suggested by Dream a Little Bigger- these are sponges which you can buy in the supermarket and are designed to remove stains, scuff marks etc. You snip off a corner and rub over the iron (while cool).... and it worked!!
Shiny!! The only downside is that now there's no excuse not to get on with the ironing...
