There are lots of these ideas on Pinterest - I couldn't decide which to do so I've done a mixture (which hopefully helps it not to look too uniform and boring). Here's what I did:
Paint & Brush, Washi Tape, Buttons, Pom Poms, Drawing Pins, Thump Tacks, Push Pins, Hot Glue Gun, Scissors |
First I decided to paint the push pins (they were cheap and only came in primary colours - no orange or turquoise...!)- I used Humbrol Enamel model paints (but I would have used nail varnish otherwise!). I found the inside of a toilet roll was perfect for holding the pins in place whilst painting and drying!
Inspired by this post, I decided to cover some of the drawing pins with washi tape. For ages I didn't get the fuss about this stuff and now, I too am hooked on using it everywhere! The two I have used here are different brands and the tartan worked loads better than the chevron one. This post inspired me to get out our favourite item - Buttons!! It also has some great tips on mounting and prepping them before getting to work. I selected a few matching ones and stuck them on with hot glue.
David is impressed! |
And finally, this post inspired me to use pom poms!!!! I inserted sewing pins into them and it worked a treat. The simplest ones of all!!!
And here they are all together on my board. I did this originally when deciding on colours for my room... Then I kept adding to it and now its just part of the decor. I need another noticeboard to actually use to pin important things to!!
An essential project? No... Did I enjoy myself? Yes!!
