You know how we all have lamps that we have a) had for so long they are in need of some loving, b) bought because they were cheap and could have upcycling potential or c) inherited when merging property with not so tasteful boyfriends?!! My lamps are both from the c) category although to be fair to Dunc, they were just a bit boring rather than ugly and horrendous!
I have two ideas here but obviously the possibilities are endless!
First up is my favourite - The Ribbon Lamp.
I got the inspiration for this from my cushions which also happen to match my Zebra print. You have no idea how happy I was to find out these matched so well! I felt my lamp in comparison was rather boring and definitely needed doing up - but I didn't want it to clash and so I thought "Why not try to match them up exactly? That won't be long and laborious at all...".
To be fair, the lengthy part was choosing the colours!! I bought some lengths of ribbon in various colours and planned out the pattern. Then attached each one to the lamp with a spot of hot glue on each end, making sure they overlapped slightly. Done!
Second is my other favourite(!) - The Button Lamp
The inspiration for this one is my African themed front room. I have lots of wood carvings, masks, and tones of brown and earthy greens and reds. I also have this AMAZING lizard, so I was inspired to replicate the circles somehow...BUTTONS!!! Of course!!!!
I spent most of the time on this project, again choosing colours from my stash. Then I hot glued them on. Done. Easy peasy hey? Hope you like!
