... and a Sweet Wrapper Canvas!

Hello all! Its guest post time! Today's post is by our good friend Deb...
So Deb was sitting at home watching a film one night over Christmas. She may or may not have been working her way through a tub of Quality Street chocolates (!). The film had a scene where there was a brightly coloured transparent wall and inspiration hit! Deb decided to make some art out of her sweet wrappers (and needed to use all of the chocolates up to do this!!!)

At first she thought of putting them behind the glass of a clip frame but after trying it, it didn't have the WOW factor. Back to the drawing board... or a ready to use canvas! Deb took the sweet wrappers, canvas and some PVA and decided to just go for it and stick the wrappers on.
Deb covered the canvas in PVA first and added more when needed, finishing off with a layer of PVA. (Top tip, no too thick or you will get brush strokes!!). She didn't have to think too hard about her design as Deb is going through a real "spectrum" phase at the moment, so she simply layered them down in order, with overlapping pieces here and there to help with the blended feel.
Technically meant to be going from Red to Purple but this photo was very stubborn and refused to rotate.
No matter how hard I tried!!!
What do you think? We think it looks great AND you get to eat loads of chocolate... well we must suffer for our art I suppose!

  3. That looks so pretty. We have a load of wrappers too, and a mini canvas, think we'll have to add this to our 'to do' list.

  4. You've just given me a splash of inspiration! I'll need to see if it works but first will need to demolish a tin of sweets. Which will be hardest - eating or doing?

    1. Funny enough, once Deb was inspired she couldn't eat her chocolates fast enough and it may have turned into a bit of a chore - that feeling of just wanting to get on with it!!
