We were delighted when Fiona from Celtic Thistles asked us if we would like to host her Ho, Ho, Ho, and on We Sew Link Party this month and of course said yes straight away! The idea of this feature is to get prepared for Christmas by making something each month and showcasing this on the Link Party. It's such a fab idea and will definitely help us avoid the last minute rush - even if it feels slightly strange talking about Christmas in May!!
We'd love you to show off your Christmas or Holiday themed projects and link up at the bottom of the page. There is also a fantastic giveaway for one lucky entrant!
To make our Tie Pouch, we used two unwanted ties and a 8" zip (best to double check the ties are unwanted before you start cutting them up!!). We then followed the same method as our Make Up Bag where you can see the instructions, if you fancy making your own.
Attach the zip and lining....
Sew it all together, turn it all out and there you have a zipped pouch!
The giveaway prize this month is a lovely Christmas mini charm pack from the Fat Quarter Shop. It is from the 25th and Pine collection from Basic Grey for Moda.
here and take a look at the beautiful things she makes - we are in awe of her quilts!
A big thank you to all of the sponsors of the monthly Link Party giveaways.
UPDATE: The lucky winner of the competition was Janine from Rainbow Hare who shared her fab knitted socks!
My husband has just retired so has lots of redundant ties in his wardrobe, I shall definitely be acquiring a few of them to make some of these pouches :)ReplyDelete
Thanks for hosting too!
Thanks so much for having us as guest hosts this month! Sounds like you'll have plenty of ties to keep you busy for a while;) xDelete
what a great idea. My husband has plenty of unused ties too, so i might be sneaking some away soon!ReplyDelete
Thanks Deborah! I'm sure your husband won't notice a couple of ties missing ;) xDelete

Thanks Chris! xDelete
Interesting idea and some ties are made from such pretty fabric it is lovely to make something useful from themReplyDelete
There are definitely some weird & wonderful ties out there! xDelete
This is a great idea! Ties often seem to made of the loveliest fabrics but I've never been able to think of anything to do with them so we've built up quite a collection!ReplyDelete
Thanks Janine! Have to confess I also have a collection of ties 'just incase' ... so let us know if you come up with any more ideas ;) xDelete
The tie pouch is a great way to use some ties, I'm sure they'd be great little coin purses.ReplyDelete
Aah yes good idea to use ties to make coin purses! xDelete
What a great use for old ties. My husband never wears his anymore so this is something I can do with them. Thanks!ReplyDelete
What a perfect opportunity to make something from his old ties!! xDelete
I've made lots of zipper bags in my time, but never one with a tie - I wouldn't have thought there was enough fabric to do so! I need to check hubby's (and the kids?) tie collections to see what they have, lol!ReplyDelete
I was really surprised about how much fabric you could get from one tie! I'm now thinking about what else to make with them :) Happy tie hunting! xDelete
Great idea and they would make a perfect gift for any students leaving school this summer. I haven't got my school tie anymore but I might have if it had been turned into an adorable pouch!ReplyDelete
Thanks Josie! What a lovely idea to make as a present using an old school tie! xDelete
Cool idea! Thanks for sharing.ReplyDelete
Thanks Vera! xDelete
