Materials
- Fabric (large enough for 8" circle)
- Ribbon/Twine for hanging
- Sewing materials
Fold this in half (right sides together) then sew along together, making sure to leave a gap at the bottom so that you can turn it back in on itself.
Once you've turned it back around, top stitch along the bottom edge of the semi circle. I realised at this point that I needed some practice sewing curves, but luckily I chose a cream thread so my mistakes didn't show up too much!!
To assemble your tree, fold it over right to left and keep going until you reach the top. This took me a couple of goes to get the folds right so that it left a neat edge at the top, but all it needed was a couple of small adjustments along the way.
For the hanging at the top I used some ribbon (reused from those tags you find in jumpers!!). I tucked in under the back two folds and secured with a bit of bondaweb, but you could also stich into place.
To make sure everything stayed in place I gave it a good press and also added some more bits of bondaweb between the layers for extra security. I used quite thick fabric, so with thinner cotton it may stay in place just by ironing.
I haven't put our Christmas tree up yet (it is still November after all!!), so this is hanging up in my craft room for now... But I think I am going to have a search through my fabric scraps and make some others in different colours to join it! What have you been making to get into the festive spirit?!
