.... and our Autumn Textile ATC Swap!

We really enjoyed our first Textile ATC (Artist Trading Card) Swap back in June, so when we heard that Ali at VeryBerryHandmade was organising another, we couldn't put our names on the list quick enough!!
The 'rules' were the same as last time: everyone was to create a textile card (approx 2.5" x 3.5") to then send to their secret swap partner. The theme this time was 'Autumn' and here's our interpretations!

'Seedheads' by Sian
This was going to Larisa at Stitching Notes all the way to sunny Sydney, Australia!
I interpreted the theme of Autumn, by using seedheads as inspiration for the machine embroidery.

'Firework Night' by Simi
This was going to Liz at Swedish Scrapper who very kindly gave me this helpful brief:
I love linen, am influenced by Zakka style (Japanese and Korean textiles).I've got a thing for vintage sheets and I love textiles. I also love Liberty fabrics, but it's a new love affair. Texture, subtleties, tones on tones, all work for me but I need a few pops of color, since it is so dark and cold half the year where I live :D
I was so pleased as my take on Autumn was going to be about my favourite night - Firework night (its always around the same time as my birthday!!)
And here's the lovely ATC's we received from our swap partners.....

Sian received this from Laurie at Laurie Loou Handmade
Simi received this from Cynthia
Aren't they fab? And don't forget to check out everyone else's efforts at the Very Berry Handmade ATC Flickr group

  2. Dear Sian, I just got your card 'Seedheads' and I can't thank you enough for it. It was my first swap ever and I enjoyed it so much. I did not give any description to you on purpose because I did not want to influence your interpretation of the theme. You have done an amazing job! On such a tiny piece you captured the last days of Autumn. Just looking at it brings back so many memories of cold Autumn days, just moments before the first snow. Thank you! Best wishes, Larisa
