Another "quickie" kids craft post today, to celebrate the last day of term and the beginning of the Summer Holidays! I have been doing lots of fabric projects lately and my scraps collection is growing rapidly. So when we decided to make Mally's Auntie Sophie a present (she is visiting from South Africa!) we thought we'd do something a little different from the usual drawing and this is what we came up with and how we did it:
It was very easy, Mally did a quick pencil drawing onto a mini stretched canvas (the bear and a blobby beehive!) and then we (I) cut the same shapes out from the different scraps. We then chose fabrics for the sky and grass and Mally stuck them down with PVA glue. We then kept adding more bits for details (including a snake made from leftover crazy patchwork from the scrappy felt sunglasses case... Don't ask what he's doing there!!)
The eyes are a bit crazy as I had some spare polka dot fabric and the wings on the bees are made from some netting. We finished it off by trimming the sides and sticking them down to the canvas.
And took them outside to enjoy the sunshine!
That's a fantastic picture, I am sure his Auntie will be really pleased with it, and a great way to use up some of those scraps too.
