... and a Lace Doily Bowl

During a recent charity shop visit, I found a crochet style doily. Now of course I didn't 'need' a doily, but it was a bargain at 20p, so I bought it anyway! So to make sure I put it to good use, I made it into a bowl!

The way I made this was pretty much the same as my Fabric Scrap Bowl and was really simple to do!

I started by covering a glass bowl in cling film, to make sure that the doily didn't stick. You could try out different types of bowls and jars depending on the size of your doily.

Then I liberally applied fabric stiffener to the doily using a foam brush and smoothed out the creases with my fingers.

This was left to dry over the bowl, until it had set hard.

 The cling film did the trick and made it really easy just to lift it off to give a finished doily bowl!

Good way to display pot pourri?

 Or perhaps for jewellery? What would you use it for?

I think the crinkly edges give it a pretty look and it's so simple to do. I may have to take a trip to the charity shop again to find some more doilies in different sizes.... any excuse eh!!
