Tips, Tools & Techniques - Make a Marble Effect with Paint

Hello! Here's our regular feature where we share tips, tools & techniques that have caught our eye, things we have Pinned, and things we have tried. These are probably not going to change your life(!) but might make it a bit easier...

Mally wanted to make his Granno a present for her birthday and since we'd done the Decopatch Giraffe for his other grandmother (his Naani) he decided to go for a dinosaur. But he was adamant he did NOT want to cover it, but paint it instead.
I offered him the choice of two of my favourite types of paints (tester pots!) and he choice both. Before I could stop him (silly four year olds!) he had started splodgeing both on at the same time and swirling it all around. Well imagine my surprise when I saw how nicely it came out. I think its because emulsion paint is so thick that to truly mix it together you would need one of those shaking machines you see at the DIY stores? Whatever the science, Mally had discovered a new technique and we love it!

And the finished article:
Not the most technical of posts but it was invented by a 4 year old!

  2. That's so awesome. I wish more blogs did posts by kids. They're so creative naturally and I'm sure having a crafty mama helps, too!

  3. My 4 year old loves mixing her paints too. She loves to see what colors she can create although I think this swirly marble paint would thrill her. Thanks for sharing at Gingerly Made's Show & Tell.
