...and Inspiration from Nature (with a Wigglegram Tutorial!)

This weekend we were both away in the Cotswolds for our Experimenting with Embroidery and Mixed Media course (more on what we created coming soon!!). In preparation for this course, we were asked to bring along a range of images to use as inspiration for the pieces we would be making. This was a residential at Farncombe Estate which had beautiful grounds and scenery, so it was a great opportunity to get the camera out!


Here are some of the images that we liked, especially for their shape and texture...

Not content with just taking 'normal' nature photos, we got out some googly eyes and stuck them onto a pine cone (as you do!!)...which then reminded us of a great tutorial from Minieco on how to create a Wigglegram...

Wigglegrams (also known as ‘stereoscopic images’ or ‘wigglegifs’) are animated gifs made from several photographs of the same object, all taken from a slightly different angles. When you take your photographs, the object needs to remain still and you  move the camera around your object in an arc like fashion. Once you have your images you can use Gifpal website to upload your photos and it will create the wigglegram for you.

In hindsight, it probably would have worked better to put the pine cone against a plain white background and put the camera on something stable - but we still think it gives a fun result!! You can also go for a more 'subtle' approach and use the same image, but just alter the colour tones when editing (e.g. in Photoshop).

The variety of wigglegrams that you could create are endless.... what image would you use for yours?!
