Tips, Tools & Techniques - Cheap (or Free) Wall Art!

Hello! Here's our regular feature where we share tips, tools & techniques that have caught our eye, things we have Pinned, and things we have tried. These are probably not going to change your life(!) but might make it a bit easier...
A ridiculously quick and easy one for you today. I've seen lots of posts and projects where people use fabric pieces as wall art. Well how about something even simpler?

The first two are full size pieces of gift wrap paper - the Musicians one is from the V&A gift shop (designed by Rob Hodgson - can you recognise the famous icons?) and the alphabet / numbers one is from a small local boutique. Both would make great posters and only cost £1 each!
The next two are from my "acquired" wallpaper sample stash. Its shamefully quite big. I can't seem to help myself when in DIY shops. I may have a problem...
All you need is a cheap frame (this one was on sale for £2 because of some minor damage - it can easily be covered / painted etc) It measures 45 X 55cm:
And voila!
One frame, four different looks. The gift wrap paper ones are my favourite - what do you think?

    1. Thanks Andrea - good to know we're not the only ones to buy frames "just in case!"

  2. I am also a serial wrapping paper buyer! This is such a great idea. I have often used wrapping paper over insets because they often look dull after a short amount of time and it means I can make a few not-matching frames look like they go together. I never thought of framing the paper but will definitely be doing it.

  3. I framed some bits of wallpaper at work once when we needed quick art work for a very plain space but had no budget at all. I love the wrapping paper you used here, especially the musicians, but I love the black and white wall paper too.
I also have a stash of wallpaper off cuts (not quite as big a collection as you mind!) in a bag, shoved at the back of the wardrobe. It's great for card making, wrapping presents, covering books etc.
I like Joanna's (the commenter above me) idea for covering frame inserts with wrapping paper.
