Tips, Tools & Techniques - DIY Antiqued Paper

Hello! Here's our regular feature where we share tips, tools & techniques that have caught our eye, things we have Pinned, and things we have tried. These are probably not going to change your life(!) but might make it a bit easier...

To create your own antique effect, start with plain paper, scrunch into a ball and then smooth flat. Then take about 1/4 cup of hot coffee, spoon onto the paper and spread evenly. You can then add a bit more 'texture' by taking dried coffee and sprinkling over the wet paper.

Next mop up the excess liquid and put into the oven to dry. I had the oven on the lowest temperature and left for about 5 mins - but keep an eye on it to avoid any mishaps!!
I then thought it would be interesting to see what happened with different liquids.....
TEA
PEPPERMINT TEA
This was a really quick and simple technique and can be used to give different effects. There are also lots of ways the paper can be used....how about for card making, as an art journal page, or perhaps as a treasure map?! What would you use it for??

  2. A lovely idea, never thought about putting them in an oven to dry - but a much better idea than just leaving them to dry by themselves (and get stuck to things) thanks for sharing.

  3. I did something like this when making treasure maps for my nephews to have a hunt in my backyard one year :) I wish I had thought of using different teas for different stains! And I have to agree the oven is a brilliant step!
