... and a Watermelon Coin Purse

I'm not sure how long a project can technically be classed as a 'work in progress'.... weeks, months, years?! Well this definitely can be classed in that last category!! It started way back when Simi and I lived together and is actually made from her old bra push-up pads (strange but true). I had planned to make something with them at the time, but they have sat patiently in a drawer until now... when they have become a watermelon purse!!

I had previously made a slight bit of progress to form a purse. This was done by sewing the two pieces together along the bottom (inside out) and a zip along the top. In hindsight I would have chosen a different colour zip, but at that point I hadn't decided that it was going to be a watermelon!
Back to the present day (!) and it was time to decorate the purse. For this I cut two pieces each of cream and red felt, as well as some black felt for the pips.
I sewed the felt onto the purse with embroidery thread, with the red piece on top of the cream. The pips were then stuck into place with a dab of glue.
So this work in progress is finally finished!! Do you have any projects which have taken slightly longer than planned... please tell me I'm not alone?!

    Genius! I save all my underwires when I toss my old bra's. For what? I don't know yet!

    Looking good :)
    I've just had to go up to the attic and spotted a tapestry I started before I left home (30 years ago now!)
    Strange thing is that I have moved house 10 times since then and still carry it about with me - I must be an optimist!!

      Haha thirty years is pretty good going :) I am the same though and have several things which I still plan to finish 'one day'! x

    I would never have guessed. It is a first for me - I would never have thought about saving anything from my old bras. I think I need to open my eyes a bit more!

      It's probably not the usual way to use bra pads & it's taken me a few years to actually get round to making anything with them!! x
